Description
This pilot project proposes to evaluate the potentials of advanced BASs in generating incremental energy savings from multi-unit residential buildings.
Scope
The project includes 13 multi-unit residential buildings located across Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The project scope of work is summarized as below:
- Assess pre-retrofit building heating systems including the details of in-situ control system and define the base case scenario for post-retrofit savings evaluations
- Procure and install necessary monitoring equipment
- Verify advanced BAS savings based on utility billing data and/or site measurements
- Evaluate the effectiveness of advanced BAS under various operating conditions including outdoor air temperature, heating loads, and tenant behaviors/occupancies
- Evaluate the effects of each variation/condition on the performance of advanced BAS
- Identify the components of advanced BAS accountable for incremental performance improvement and discuss each of them in the final report
